FAQ

  • Forms of payment?

We accept cash and credits cards. If you are purchasing something at the farm stand there is a cash box on the tree or you can place an order online.

  • Are you certified organic?

The short answer is no. The cost to be certified is out of reach for us at the moment. We do grow our produce organically and follow the Southern Maryland Meats Guidelines for meat production.

  • What is Southern Maryland Meats?

Each farm raises, feeds and finishes its animals according to its own style and preference, however, to use the SMM brand, farmers agree to uphold SMM standards of quality and humane care, and to use clearly defined raising terms when marketing their products. Each animal is raised and processed according to the high quality standards to ensure the finest meat locally produced.

  • Is your farm open to the public?

Our farm is also our home. We welcome guests, but we ask that you make an appointment with us first. However, the farm stand is always open!

  • How do you eat the meat that your raise?

This is a complex discussion. One that cannot be answered easily. It begins with the belief in no faceless meats and ends somewhere with the decision to be a meat-eater as ethically as we can.

  • How did you get started farming?

We began as homesteaders and then realized that we have an opportunity to feed our community. and a love for raising/growing food.

  • Who is your photographer?

We have two great photographers that we love!

Catalina DeVore Photography takes all of our lifestyle photos. Ryan’s smiling face is all thanks to her!

Mary Bell Photography takes all of our product and farm photos. She just has a way of capturing things that are typically considered unphotographable and we couldn't be more thankful!
