A farmette in SoMD.

Small scale. Regenerative. Ethical.

Small-scale farming can change the world. We are here to help you gain confidence and understanding when it comes to raising and growing your own food. Humanely. Ethically. Regeneratively.

Our mission is to educate our community on sustainable, small-scale practices while raising quality food with authenticity.

We are a small farmette in Calvert County, MD.

Achterberg Acres is a small-scale farm operated by two beginning farmers. We produce a wide variety of organically grown produce, plant starts, table eggs, pork, poultry, and other value added products on 4 acres of woodland and 1 acre of leased pasture. We use regenerative practices that mimic nature to keep our soils healthy while protecting the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

We specialize in beautiful chickens that lay fun and unique egg colors, woodland raised pork products, and educational experiences. Want to learn something specific? Visit the contact us page and let us know!

As beginning farmers, we both started this operation without any farming background or experience. We gained our skills through testing and researching and continue to learn more everyday. Oftentimes, our ideas failed, but that just made the success much more magical. The vision of eating healthy and sharing this with our community became the opportunity of a lifetime when we were able to purchase a 5 acres lot in the spring of 2020 after years of searching.

Two years later, we lease 1 acre from a neighboring farm. We have worked the land, are starting to understand its nuances and are ready to grow.
